The combination of bicalutamide, calcium, and vitamin D is a therapeutic regimen primarily used in the management of prostate cancer. Bicalutamide is a non-steroidal anti-androgen (NSAA) that acts as a competitive antagonist of the androgen receptor, thereby inhibiting the growth of androgen-sensitive prostate tumors. Because androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is associated with a significant risk of bone mineral density loss and subsequent osteoporosis or fractures, calcium and vitamin D are co-administered as essential supportive care.
