Overview

This is a combination regimen of three drugs used in the treatment of prostate cancer, particularly advanced or metastatic forms. Bicalutamide is a non-steroidal antiandrogen that blocks androgen receptors, preventing testosterone from stimulating prostate cancer cell growth. Goserelin and leuprolide are both luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists; they suppress the production of testosterone by downregulating pituitary release of luteinizing hormone, leading to medical castration. The combination aims to achieve maximal androgen blockade by both reducing circulating testosterone and blocking any residual androgen activity at the receptor level. This triple therapy has been studied as an alternative to local treatments like surgery or radiation for patients with localized or locally advanced prostate cancer[4][5][7].
