Overview

Bicalutin is a non-steroidal antiandrogen medication containing the active ingredient bicalutamide, a small molecule that acts as a competitive antagonist at the androgen receptor. Developed and marketed by Dr. Pfleger Arzneimittel, it is used for the treatment of prostate cancer, specifically advanced and locally advanced hormone-dependent prostate carcinoma. By blocking the binding of male sex hormones (androgens) to their receptors, Bicalutin inhibits the growth of hormone-dependent prostate cancer cells. It is available in 50 mg and 150 mg tablet strengths for oral administration, often used in combination with LHRH analogs or as monotherapy depending on the disease stage.
