Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bicogreen S-tablet is an over-the-counter (OTC) enteric-coated combination tablet developed and marketed by KOLON Pharma for the relief of constipation and associated symptoms such as abdominal bloating, loss of appetite, and hemorrhoids. The formulation combines three active ingredients with complementary laxative mechanisms: bisacodyl, docusate sodium, and sennoside calcium. Bisacodyl is a stimulant laxative that directly activates the transient receptor potential melastatin 4 (TRPM4) channel in intestinal epithelial cells, triggering a signaling cascade that promotes fluid secretion and colonic peristalsis. Sennoside calcium, a natural anthraquinone glycoside derivative, is metabolized by gut microbiota into active rheinanthrone, which further stimulates colonic motility. Docusate sodium acts as a surfactant stool softener, lowering surface tension to allow water and lipids to penetrate the stool, making it easier to pass.
