Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bicun is a branded injectable formulation of edaravone, developed by Simcere as the first edaravone solution for injection marketed in China and used as a central nervous system drug for stroke management and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It acts as a free radical scavenger and antioxidant, reducing oxidative stress to improve neurological function after acute ischemic stroke and to delay progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Bicun has been a core product in Simcere’s CNS portfolio and represents one of the company’s first-to-market generics in China.
