Overview
BiCure ophthalmo MSCs is an autologous cell therapy developed by Bioinova for the treatment of degenerative retinal diseases, including retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease, and the dry form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The product consists of cultured mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) obtained from the patient's own bone marrow. These cells are administered to the eye, where they release paracrine factors intended to promote the survival and regeneration of retinal photoreceptors and glial cells. Additionally, the therapy aims to reduce oxidative stress-induced damage and modulate undesirable immune reactions in the retinal environment. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
