Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bidin LS is an ophthalmic solution containing brimonidine tartrate, a highly selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It is primarily indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The drug works through a dual mechanism: it reduces the production of aqueous humor by the ciliary body and increases uveoscleral outflow. The "LS" (Low Strength) designation typically refers to formulations with lower concentrations of the active ingredient (often 0.1% or 0.15%) compared to standard 0.2% solutions. These lower concentrations are designed to maintain therapeutic efficacy while minimizing ocular side effects such as allergic conjunctivitis and hyperemia. Bidin LS is manufactured by Ajanta Pharma and is widely marketed in India.
