Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bidiol is a branded cannabis-derived product containing cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating phytocannabinoid from Cannabis sativa that exerts anticonvulsant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, and neuroprotective effects through complex modulation of the endocannabinoid system and multiple non-cannabinoid targets. Cannabidiol displays low affinity for CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors and instead acts as a negative allosteric modulator at CB1, an antagonist at the orphan G protein–coupled receptor GPR55, and a modulator of intracellular calcium flux and various neurotransmitter systems, including serotonin, dopamine, and GABAergic signaling, which together are thought to underlie its seizure‑reducing and symptom‑modifying activity in certain neurologic conditions.[3][5][9][10]
