Overview

Bielong Ruangan decoction (BLRG) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily indicated for the treatment of liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It exerts its therapeutic effects through the modulation of the gut-liver axis, specifically by reshaping the gut microbiota composition and enhancing intestinal barrier function. In preclinical models, BLRG has been shown to inhibit tumor growth, reduce serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels, and suppress inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10 and IL-1β, while simultaneously boosting anti-tumor immune responses through the upregulation of IFN-α, IFN-γ, and IL-2. Its impact on the microbiome includes the reduction of specific taxa like *Mucispirillum* and *Helicobacter typhlonius*, which correlates with improved metabolic and immune profiles.
