Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifico is a triple-strain probiotic combination product containing live *Bifidobacterium longum*, *Lactobacillus acidophilus*, and *Enterococcus faecalis*. Developed by SPH Sine Pharmaceutical Laboratories, it is widely used in China to restore intestinal microbiota balance and maintain gut barrier integrity. The formulation works by competitively inhibiting pathogenic bacteria, enhancing host innate and adaptive immunity, and modulating metabolic pathways. Clinical research has demonstrated its efficacy in preventing relapses of ulcerative colitis and mitigating metabolic side effects, such as weight gain and insulin resistance, associated with docetaxel-based chemotherapy in breast cancer or atypical antipsychotic medications in psychiatric disorders. It is also investigated for improving gastrointestinal function in patients with chronic kidney disease, stroke, colorectal cancer, and functional constipation.
