Overview

Bifidobacteria is a probiotic intestinal flora drug consisting of beneficial bacteria used to restore the balance of the gut microbiome. In the context of a Phase 4 clinical trial led by RenJi Hospital (NCT02097394), it is being evaluated for its ability to prevent the recurrence of colon polyps in patients following a polypectomy. The treatment is based on the hypothesis that dysbiosis (intestinal flora imbalance) contributes to polyp formation. It may be administered alone or in combination with digestive enzymes like Combizym to decrease the recurrence rate of colon polyps by restoring intestinal flora balance.
