Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifidobacterium adolescentis BD1 is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria investigated for its potential to improve gut health. It was isolated from a human subject whose gut microbiome had been enriched with the prebiotic galactooligosaccharide (GOS). In a clinical study at Rush University, the BD1 strain was evaluated, both by itself and in a synbiotic combination with GOS, for its ability to modulate the gut microbiota, improve intestinal barrier function, and reduce endotoxemia and metabolic inflammation, particularly in obese adults.
