Overview

Bifidobacterium adolescentis CCFM1386 is a probiotic bacterial strain developed by researchers at Jiangnan University's Culture Collection of Food Microorganisms (CCFM) in China. It is being investigated as a live biotherapeutic product for the treatment of prediabetes and related metabolic disorders. In preclinical studies using prediabetic mouse models, the strain has demonstrated the ability to significantly improve glucose tolerance, reduce serum insulin concentrations and insulin resistance, and lower LDL cholesterol levels. Its mechanism of action involves the restoration of gut microbiota structure and the promotion of beneficial metabolites, such as nicotinate and phenylalanine, which influence metabolic pathways including protein digestion and amino acid biosynthesis. The strain also exhibits protective effects on liver and pancreatic tissues.
