Drug intelligence / Profile preview
iVS-1 is a specific probiotic strain of *Bifidobacterium adolescentis* developed by Synbiotic Health. It is characterized as a next-generation probiotic intended to improve gut health through multiple mechanisms, including the modulation of the gut microbiota and the enhancement of gut barrier integrity. Clinical studies have demonstrated that iVS-1 can reduce intestinal permeability by upregulating the production of tight-junction proteins and mucin. Furthermore, the strain has been shown to alleviate symptoms of lactose intolerance in lactose maldigesters by enhancing lactase gene expression and improving lactose digestion. iVS-1 is also noted for its ability to produce gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and folate, which may provide additional benefits for the gut-brain axis, cardiovascular health, and immune function.
