Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gabapral is a probiotic food supplement containing the bacterial strain Bifidobacterium adolescentis PRL2019. Developed by Pharmextracta, it is designed to support the gut-brain axis by producing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. Gabapral is indicated for the management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), particularly in pediatric patients, and has also been associated with potential benefits for stress, anxiety, and insomnia. By increasing GABA levels in the gut, it helps regulate gut motility, reduce visceral hypersensitivity, and alleviate recurrent abdominal pain.
