Drug intelligence / Profile preview
*Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis* B94 (also known as LAFTI B94) is a probiotic bacterial strain belonging to the *Bifidobacterium* genus. It is primarily utilized for its beneficial effects on gastrointestinal health and immunomodulation. Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy in treating infantile colic, improving bowel function and stool frequency in patients with Prader-Willi syndrome, and managing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in children. It is also used as an adjunct therapy in *Helicobacter pylori* eradication to reduce treatment-related side effects and improve patient compliance. The strain exhibits antagonistic activity against various pathogens, including *Streptococcus mutans* and *Rotavirus*, and has been shown to modulate the immune response by inducing the production of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-10 and IL-12) and promoting the differentiation of Th17 and regulatory T cells.
