Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This probiotic combination consists of three specific bacterial strains: *Lactobacillus salivarius* subsp. *salicinius* AP-32, *Lactobacillus johnsonii* MH-68, and *Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis* CP-9. Developed by Bioflag Biotech, this live biotherapeutic product is being investigated for the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM). In clinical trials, the combination demonstrated the ability to modulate the gut microbiota, improve glycemic control (reducing HbA1c and fasting blood glucose), and regulate the immune response by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-8, TNF-α, IL-17, MIP-1β, and RANTES) and increasing anti-inflammatory TGF-β1. The strains were isolated from human gut and breast milk sources.
