Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis IOBL07 is a specific probiotic strain developed by I-O Corporation, primarily used to support gastrointestinal health. As a live biotherapeutic, it functions by colonizing the human gut, where it modulates the composition of the microbiota and produces organic acids, such as lactic and acetic acids. These metabolites lower the intestinal pH, inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria and promoting a favorable environment for beneficial microbes. Clinical studies have demonstrated that IOBL07 can significantly improve bowel movement frequency and stool consistency in individuals prone to constipation. Additionally, it is thought to enhance the intestinal barrier function and interact with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) to support immune homeostasis.
