Overview

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis TCI604 is a probiotic bacterial strain originally isolated from human breast milk and developed by TCI CO., Ltd. as a live biotherapeutic product. The strain has been investigated for its potential to improve gastrointestinal health, specifically in reducing the incidence of colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer, as well as managing gastroesophageal reflux and digestive tract ulcers. TCI604 exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the expression of various inflammatory and metabolic genes, including CRP, IL-1β, IL-8, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17A, TNF-α, CYP7A1, and APC. Research in animal models has demonstrated that both the live probiotic cells and their cell-free supernatant can attenuate systemic inflammation, gut dysbiosis, and the development of colonic precancerous lesions.
