Overview

Bifidobacterium bifidum CBT-BF3 is a specific probiotic bacterial strain developed by Cell Biotech Co., Ltd. Originally isolated from cheese and deposited under accession number KCTC 12199BP, this live biotherapeutic agent is designed to modulate the gut-skin axis and the systemic immune response. Its mechanism involves the promotion of beneficial gut microbiota (such as other Bifidobacterium and Bacteroides species) while inhibiting pathogenic bacteria like Escherichia and Shigella. Immunologically, it has been shown to induce T-cell differentiation toward Treg and Th1 phenotypes while suppressing Th2 activity, making it a candidate for the treatment of atopic dermatitis and the promotion of infant growth and gut health. It is typically administered as a freeze-dried powder and has been evaluated as a Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) substance by the FDA for food applications.
