Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifidobacterium bifidum Rosell-71 (also known as R0071 or B. bifidum R71) is a probiotic strain developed and produced by Lallemand Health Solutions. Isolated from the human intestine and deposited at the Pasteur Institute (CNCM I-3426), it is a live biotherapeutic that interacts with the gut epithelium and modulates the host immune system. Specifically, it has been shown to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine responses, including TNF and IL-10. Clinically, it is indicated for gastrointestinal health, such as stress-associated diarrhea, and respiratory health, including the reduction of cold-like symptoms in stressed adults. It is a primary component of the multi-strain pediatric formulation Probiokid® and holds regulatory approvals in Canada and China for specific health claims and use in infant food.
