Overview

Bifidobacterium bifidum TMC3115 is a **probiotic strain** of B. bifidum originally isolated from healthy infant stools. It is classified as a human “infant-type” bifidobacteria. TMC3115 is developed and used for its modulatory effects on the **gut microbiota**, with research indicating beneficial influence on serum cholesterol metabolism, anti-obesity, anti-allergic effects, and stress modulation via effects on the intestinal immune system and reduction of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6. The mechanism is thought to involve decomposition of host-derived breast milk oligosaccharides, plant-derived polysaccharides, and mucins, as well as modulation of short-chain fatty acid production and immune mediators (e.g. IL-10, IL-17A)[1][4][5][6].
