Overview

Bifidobacterium breve B632 is a probiotic bacterial strain belonging to the species *Bifidobacterium breve*. It was specifically selected for its ability to inhibit gas-producing coliforms and Enterobacteriaceae in the gut microbiota, particularly in infants. In vitro studies have demonstrated that this strain can persist within infant gut microbiota cultures and significantly reduce levels of pathogenic coliforms such as *Escherichia coli* and other Enterobacteriaceae. The primary mechanism involves competitive inhibition of pathogenic bacteria through colonization resistance and production of lactic and acetic acids, which lower intestinal pH and suppress pathogen growth. This strain has been investigated for potential benefits in pediatric gastrointestinal health, especially for conditions like infantile colic associated with dysbiosis. Additional research suggests it may help modulate inflammatory responses by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α when used alongside dietary interventions[1][3][6].
