Overview

Bifidobacterium breve BR03 (DSM 16604) is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria recognized for its health-promoting properties. [4] It is frequently utilized in combination with other probiotic strains, notably Bifidobacterium breve B632, in various clinical studies and supplement formulations. [3] Research indicates that B. breve BR03 may offer several health benefits. For instance, in pediatric populations with obesity, supplementation has been linked to improved insulin sensitivity. [34229263, 3] In individuals with celiac disease, it has been observed to lower the levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-α. [26134988] The strain has also been investigated for its potential to alleviate symptoms of atopic dermatitis by reducing gut microbial translocation and modulating immune responses [22955355], manage constipation and evacuation disorders [20697291], and, when combined with B. breve B632, prevent infant colic. [27741166] Additional studies have explored its use in multi-strain formulations for conditions such as chronic spontaneous urticaria, scalp rosacea, and the reduction of crystalluria in kidney stone formers. [27608474, 27087407, 39206631] The genomic sequence of B. breve BR03 has been fully mapped, which aids in its scientific characterization and understanding of its probiotic functions. [31097497]
