Overview

*Bifidobacterium breve* CECT7263 is a probiotic bacterial strain originally isolated from human breast milk. It is primarily developed for pediatric health applications, specifically for the treatment of infant colic and the prevention of neonatal morbidities such as necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in preterm infants. The strain functions by modulating the gut microbiota, enhancing the production of short-chain fatty acids (particularly acetate), and improving intestinal barrier integrity. In preclinical research, it has demonstrated potential in attenuating hypertension and endothelial dysfunction by reducing systemic endotoxemia and restoring the Th17/Treg immune balance. It is often utilized as a single-strain intervention or in combination with other probiotics like *Limosilactobacillus fermentum* CECT5716 in infant formulas and supplements.
