Overview

This is a combination probiotic product containing two strains of beneficial bacteria, *Bifidobacterium infantis* and *Lactobacillus acidophilus*. Both are lactic acid bacteria naturally found in the human gastrointestinal tract. The combination is used to help maintain or restore a healthy balance of gut microbiota, particularly after disruptions such as antibiotic use or illness. Mechanistically, these probiotics work by colonizing the gut, outcompeting pathogenic organisms for resources and adhesion sites, producing antimicrobial substances (such as lactic acid), modulating local immune responses, and supporting intestinal barrier function. Clinical studies suggest this combination may be beneficial in preventing necrotizing enterocolitis in preterm infants fed human milk[1], reducing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome[2][7], lowering inflammation in certain chronic conditions[2], aiding growth in premature infants[1], maintaining remission in pouchitis/ulcerative colitis when part of multi-strain mixes[5], and possibly reducing risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea[4]. The product is generally considered safe for most people when used as directed but should not replace prescribed medications.
