Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifidobacterium lactis BS01 is a specific probiotic strain of the species *Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis*, identified by the deposit number LMG P-21384. Developed by Probiotical S.p.A., this strain is utilized in clinical research for its potential to colonize the human gastrointestinal tract and modulate host physiological processes. Studies have investigated its efficacy in improving cognitive function, aiding weight loss, and influencing immune responses through the polarization of monocyte and macrophage subpopulations. The strain is often administered in microencapsulated forms to improve its survival during gastroduodenal transit and is frequently evaluated in combination with other probiotic strains such as *Lactobacillus acidophilus* LA02. Additionally, micronized cells (MCs) derived from this strain have been studied for their ability to mitigate oxidative stress and activate specific monocyte defense programs.
