Bifidobacterium longum CCDM 372 (also Bl 372) is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria belonging to the subspecies *Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum*. It was originally isolated from the feces of a healthy, breast-fed infant and is primarily used in research rather than as a commercial product. The active ingredient is the live bacterial organism itself. In laboratory studies, Bl 372 has demonstrated strong immunomodulatory properties, inducing high levels of both pro-inflammatory (TNF-α, IL-6, IFN-γ) and anti-inflammatory cytokines. Its mechanism involves interaction with Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 2 (NOD2). Despite its in vitro activity, in a preclinical mouse model of dextran sulphate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis, Bl 372 failed to provide a protective effect, unlike the related strain *B. longum* CCM 7952. The strain is deposited in the Culture Collection of Dairy Microorganisms (CCDM) in Prague, Czech Republic.
