Bifidobacterium longum CCFM1029 is a specific probiotic strain of the species Bifidobacterium longum, belonging to the family Bifidobacteriaceae. It is used as a live biotherapeutic product and dietary supplement, primarily investigated for its ability to improve atopic dermatitis and balance immune responses. Mechanistically, it modulates tryptophan metabolism via the gut-skin axis, upregulating indole-3-carbinol (I3C) production to suppress aberrant T helper 2 (Th2) immune responses[1][4]. Clinical studies have shown that supplementation with this strain can improve Th1/Th2 immune balance, regulate intestinal flora and short-chain fatty acid metabolism, relieve inflammatory infiltration in skin tissue, and reduce cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 associated with Th2-type inflammation[1][5]. There is also evidence suggesting potential benefits in relieving symptoms of Parkinson's disease through modulation of gut microbiota and neuroinflammation[6]. The strain has been developed for use in capsules, tablets, stick-packs, foods (including dairy products), nutraceuticals, or pharmaceuticals.
