Overview

Bifidobacterium longum cell-free supernatant (CFS) is a postbiotic preparation containing the bioactive metabolites and signaling molecules secreted by the probiotic bacterium Bifidobacterium longum during its growth phase, with the bacterial cells removed. In preclinical research, specifically involving colorectal cancer (CRC) organoid models, B. longum CFS has demonstrated significant anti-tumor activity by inhibiting cancer cell growth. The therapeutic potential of this supernatant lies in its ability to deliver microbiome-derived metabolites that are often depleted in CRC patients. These metabolites are thought to modulate host inflammatory responses, immunity, and metabolic pathways to suppress tumorigenesis and progression.
