Overview

Bifidobacterium longum DSM 32947 (also known as BG-L47) is a probiotic bacterial strain isolated from infant feces and developed by BioGaia AB as a live biotherapeutic product. The strain is characterized by its high tolerance to gastric acid and bile, as well as its ability to adhere to human intestinal mucus. It possesses a broad metabolic capacity for degrading various carbohydrates and fibers. DSM 32947 has been shown to stimulate the growth of Limosilactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 and induce the production of therapeutic microvesicles by other bacteria. Preclinical research has demonstrated its potential to increase bone mineral density, suggesting its utility in managing bone health conditions such as osteoporosis.
