Overview

Bifidobacterium longum FGDLZ8M1 is a specific probiotic strain of Bifidobacterium longum, a Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium commonly found in the human gastrointestinal tract. This strain has demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory and immune-modulatory effects in preclinical models of ulcerative colitis. In particular, B. longum FGDLZ8M1 was shown to alleviate colitis symptoms by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine expression, restoring colon length, and maintaining mucosal integrity. Its mechanism involves inhibition of NF-κB signaling pathways and enhanced tolerance to gastrointestinal transit conditions such as bile salts and acids[1]. Like other B. longum strains, it contributes to gut health by fermenting carbohydrates into short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), supporting intestinal barrier function, and modulating the gut microbiome[2][4].
