Overview

Bifidobacterium longum GDMCC No.60310 is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of a specific strain of the commensal bacterium *Bifidobacterium longum*. It is being developed by The Peoples' Hospital of Tinghu District of Yancheng City for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). The strain was isolated and deposited in the Guangdong Microbial Culture Collection Center (GDMCC). Its therapeutic potential lies in its ability to restore gut microbial homeostasis, strengthen the intestinal mucosal barrier, and exert immunomodulatory effects. By producing metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and interacting with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue, it aims to suppress the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-6) and promote an anti-inflammatory environment in the colon, thereby inducing or maintaining remission in UC patients.
