Overview

Bifidobacterium longum NBM7-1 is a specific probiotic strain of Bifidobacterium longum, originally isolated from the feces of a healthy adult in Korea. It is a Gram-positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming anaerobic bacterium with branched rod-shaped morphology. This strain has been studied for its potential anti-diabetic effects and was shown in preclinical models to alleviate type 2 diabetes (T2D) development by upregulating IL-22, which enhances insulin sensitivity and pancreatic function while reducing liver steatosis. Bifidobacterium longum species are common residents of the human gut microbiota and are widely used as probiotics for their health-promoting properties[1][6][8].
