bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis SINE006 is a specific probiotic strain of the Bifidobacterium genus. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial by the Chinese PLA General Hospital for the treatment of idiopathic short stature (ISS) in children aged 3 to 8 years. The strain is administered orally, typically in combination with organic calcium supplements (such as calcium citrate and fruit-derived calcium). The therapeutic rationale is based on the modulation of the gut microbiota to enhance nutrient absorption and potentially influence the gut-bone axis and systemic growth factors such as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), thereby promoting linear growth and bone maturation in children with ISS. The study also explores potential synergy with growth hormone therapy.
