Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination regimen is used as the control arm in clinical trials conducted by Hangzhou Grand Biologic Pharmaceutical, Inc. to evaluate the efficacy of the probiotic Si Lian Kang. It consists of a starch-based placebo tablet, designed to mimic the Bifidobacterium tetrad live bacteria formulation, administered in conjunction with a standard bismuth-containing quadruple therapy (BQT) for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection. The BQT component includes esomeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor), amoxicillin and furazolidone (antibiotics), and bismuth potassium citrate. This regimen is intended to treat H. pylori infection while serving as a comparator to assess whether the addition of active probiotics can reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, such as nausea and diarrhea, and improve overall eradication rates.
