Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of three components: - **Bifidobacterium Tetravaccine** (also known as Bifid Triple Viable or quadruple viable bacteria): a probiotic formulation containing multiple strains of live bifidobacteria, sometimes combined with other beneficial bacteria. It is used to modulate the gut microbiota, reduce inflammation, and improve intestinal barrier function. - **Yiyi Baitouweng Decoction**: a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formula. The decoction typically includes herbs such as Pulsatilla chinensis (Baitouweng), Phellodendron chinense (Huangbai), Coptis chinensis (Huanglian), Fraxinus chinensis (Qinpi), Coicis Semen (Yiyiren), Sanguisorba officinalis (Diyu), Galla Chinensis (Wubeizi), Patrinia scabiosaefolia (Baijiangcao) and Plantago asiatica seed (Cheqianzi). This formula has anti-inflammatory effects, reduces proinflammatory cytokines like IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, promotes repair of the intestinal mucosal barrier via modulation of tryptophan metabolism and activation of aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling. - **Mesalazine**: also known as mesalamine or 5-aminosalicylic acid; an anti-inflammatory small molecule drug that inhibits cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways in colonic epithelial cells to reduce prostaglandin production. The combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis. Clinical studies suggest that this triple therapy can more effectively induce remission, reduce inflammatory markers and oxidative stress, regulate immune response and gut flora composition compared to monotherapy with any single component[1][2][7]. The addition of probiotics and herbal decoctions may enhance efficacy while reducing adverse effects associated with standard pharmaceutical treatments.
