Overview
Bifidobacterium Triple Viable (BTV) is a probiotic combination drug composed of three live bacterial strains: *Bifidobacterium longum*, *Lactobacillus acidophilus*, and *Enterococcus faecalis*. It is approved as an over-the-counter (OTC) medication by the State Food and Drug Administration (NMPA) in China for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal conditions. The drug works by restoring the natural balance of the gut microbiota, enhancing the intestinal mucosal barrier, and inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria. It is marketed under brand names such as Bifico (produced by SPH Sine Pharmaceutical Laboratories) and Bifido (produced by Jincheng Health Pharmaceutical). Clinical investigations have focused on its efficacy in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) and managing conditions like chemotherapy-induced diarrhea, cirrhosis-related dysbiosis, and pediatric enteritis.
