Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bifidolin Plus is a combination herbal and probiotic dietary supplement developed by Orenda, primarily indicated for the restoration and maintenance of a healthy intestinal microbiome. The formulation contains the probiotic strain *Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis* (often the BB-12 strain) and a root extract of *Inula helenium* (Elecampane). The probiotic component works by colonizing the gastrointestinal tract, competing with pathogenic microorganisms, and enhancing the intestinal barrier function. The *Inula helenium* extract provides a natural source of inulin, which acts as a prebiotic to stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria, and contains sesquiterpene lactones that possess mild antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. This product is typically used to manage dysbiosis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and gastrointestinal disturbances associated with antibiotic use.
