Overview

BIIB076 is a recombinant human-derived monoclonal antibody that targets tau protein. It is designed to inhibit the aggregation of tau protein (PHF-tau), which is implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. By binding to and neutralizing pathological forms of tau, BIIB076 aims to reduce or prevent neurofibrillary tangle formation and slow disease progression. The drug was developed by Biogen in collaboration with Neurimmune Therapeutics for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Phase 1 clinical trials have shown that single doses were tolerated and led to dose-dependent pharmacokinetics as well as reductions in unbound mid-region tau in cerebrospinal fluid[1][7][8][9].
