Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bilas-M is a fixed-dose combination tablet developed by Numark Laboratories, containing the second-generation antihistamine bilastine (20 mg) and the leukotriene receptor antagonist montelukast (10 mg). It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in adults. Bilastine acts as a highly selective peripheral H1 receptor antagonist, effectively reducing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal itching, and rhinorrhea without causing significant sedation. Montelukast complements this action by antagonizing the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLT1), which helps to reduce airway inflammation, edema, and mucus production. This dual-pathway approach provides comprehensive relief by addressing both histamine- and leukotriene-mediated allergic responses.
