Overview

Allerduo is a fixed-dose combination of the second-generation antihistamine bilastine and the leukotriene receptor antagonist montelukast. Developed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals, it is approved in India for the treatment of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and comorbid asthma or allergic conditions. Bilastine acts as a selective antagonist of the histamine H1 receptor, preventing histamine-mediated symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and rhinorrhea. Montelukast selectively antagonizes the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLT1), reducing leukotriene-mediated airway inflammation, mucus secretion, and bronchoconstriction. Together, these two active ingredients provide complementary, dual-pathway control of allergic symptoms with a favorable, non-sedating safety profile.
