Overview

Bilaxten is a non-sedating, second-generation antihistamine small molecule containing the active ingredient bilastine. It functions as a selective peripheral Histamine H1 receptor antagonist, blocking the action of histamine to alleviate symptoms associated with allergic conditions. Originally discovered and developed by FAES Farma, Bilaxten is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial) and urticaria in adults and adolescents 12 years and older. It is typically administered as a 20 mg oral tablet once daily and provides relief from symptoms such as sneezing, nasal itching, rhinorrhea, nasal congestion, and itchy skin rashes. Kolon Pharma licensed the product for commercialization in the South Korean market, where it is approved and marketed.
