Overview

BIM23B065 is a novel chimeric compound that combines somatostatin and dopamine receptor agonist activities. It was developed to reduce excessive growth hormone (GH) secretion, primarily for the treatment of pituitary adenomas such as acromegaly. The drug acts by targeting both somatostatin and dopamine receptors, leading to significant reductions in GH, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and prolactin (PRL) levels. Clinical studies demonstrated its ability to inhibit the hypothalamic-pituitary-somatotropic axis, decrease tumor size in animal models, and suppress hormone release more effectively than individual somatostatin analogs or dopamine agonists alone. Common adverse effects included orthostatic hypotension and injection site reactions at higher doses[1][4][5][6].
