Overview

Bimekizumab + certolizumab pegol is a combination of two monoclonal antibody therapies used in clinical research for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. Bimekizumab is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to and neutralizes interleukin-17A (IL-17A), interleukin-17F (IL-17F), and their heterodimer IL-17AF, thereby inhibiting their pro-inflammatory effects. Certolizumab pegol is a PEGylated Fc-free anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) monoclonal antibody fragment that neutralizes both soluble and membrane-bound TNF-alpha, reducing inflammation without inducing complement or antibody-dependent cytotoxicity. The combination aims to provide dual inhibition of key inflammatory pathways—IL-17A/IL-17F and TNF-alpha—to achieve greater reduction in disease activity for patients with inadequate response to single-agent therapy[1][2][3].
