Overview

Bin1 mAb 99D is a monoclonal antibody candidate targeting Bridging Integrator 1 (Bin1), a protein identified as a risk factor in ulcerative colitis (UC) due to its elevated expression in the colonic mucosa of patients. Developed by researchers at the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research, the antibody is designed to treat UC by correcting the leaky colonic epithelial barrier function that drives chronic inflammation. In preclinical mouse models, administration of Bin1 mAb 99D has been shown to mimic the effects of genetic downregulation of Bin1, preserving the normal colonic mucosa and significantly reducing inflammatory cell influx and mucosal lesions. This therapeutic approach represents a novel strategy focused on barrier repair and mucosal preservation rather than broad immunosuppression.
