Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Binh Vi is a traditional Vietnamese herbal medicine formulated as tablets, based on the classic traditional formula Bình Vị Tán (Ping Wei San). It is manufactured by the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital (Bệnh viện Y học cổ truyền Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh). The formulation contains four primary active herbal ingredients: Magnolia officinalis bark (Hậu phác), Citrus reticulata peel (Trần bì), Glycyrrhiza uralensis root (Cam thảo), and Atractylodes lancea rhizome (Thương truật). It is traditionally used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as abdominal bloating, indigestion, acid reflux, peptic ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In clinical trials, it has been evaluated in combination with proton pump inhibitors (such as esomeprazole) and polydioxanone (PDO) thread embedding acupuncture for the treatment of GERD.
