BIO-11006

BIO-11006 is an investigational, aerosolized 10-amino acid peptide developed by BioMarck Pharmaceuticals. It acts as an inhibitor of the myristoylated alanine rich protein kinase C substrate (MARCKS) protein. By inhibiting MARCKS phosphorylation, BIO-11006 disrupts MARCKS-mediated signaling pathways involved in cell movement, mitogenesis, membrane trafficking, and exocytosis. This inhibition prevents the release of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), thereby blocking downstream activation of focal adhesion kinase (FAK), PI3K/AKT pathway components, and integrins. The result is a reduction in tumor cell proliferation and migration as well as decreased mucin granule release in the lungs. These actions provide potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic effects and may reduce mucus overproduction associated with airway obstruction in diseases such as COPD and ARDS. The drug is in development for indications including acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Ewing sarcoma, and osteosarcoma.
