Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bio-R (also known as Bio-RD) is a branded generic pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Kaiser Pharmaceuticals. It contains domperidone as its active ingredient, which is a small molecule dopamine D2 receptor antagonist. Domperidone works by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract and the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) located in the area postrema. Because it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier, it primarily exerts peripheral effects, such as increasing gastrointestinal motility and gastric emptying, while providing antiemetic relief. It is used to treat nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal motility disorders.
