Overview
Bioactive Dietary Polyphenol Preparation (BDPP) is a specific nutraceutical formulation composed of Concord grape juice (CGJ), grape seed polyphenol extract (GSPE), and trans-resveratrol (RSV). It is designed to deliver a specific profile of bioavailable polyphenol metabolites, such as dihydrocaffeic acid (DHCA), quercetin-3-O-glucuronide, and malvidin-3-O-glucoside, which are capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier. BDPP is being investigated for its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, specifically its ability to modulate neuroinflammation through the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-α and the HMGB1-RAGE signaling pathway. Furthermore, it has been shown to promote cognitive resilience and synaptic plasticity by activating the VGF-BDNF autoregulatory loop and the mTOR/CREB signaling pathways. The preparation is being studied for various conditions, including depression, anxiety, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's disease, and sleep deprivation-induced cognitive dysfunction.
